This tells you what Walsingham is planning to do from April 2005 to March 2006.
What is the Walsingham Annual Plan?

Why do we need an Annual Plan?

An Annual Plan will help us know what we are going to do this year.

An Annual Plan will help us find out if we are doing what we said we would do.

An Annual Plan will help us tell other people what is going to happen at Walsingham.
What is the Walsingham 5 Year Plan?

The Walsingham 5 Year Plan tells everyone what we are planning to do from April 2005 to March 2010.

The Annual Plan for 2005 to 2006 has the same main bits as the 5 Year Plan but it has more detail about what we are going to do this year.
What is in the Annual Plan?
The Annual Plan has 6 different bits. They are on the following pages:
Involving the people we support - Page 3
Involving the people who work for Walsingham - Page 5
Doing things better - Page 7
Checking what we do - Page 9
Expanding our services - Page 11
Telling people about Walsingham - Page 13
Involving the people we support
We will make sure that the people we support are involved in things when they want to be
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will make sure that people we support are involved in making most (75%) of the decisions about new staff.

We will make sure that people we support are involved in training our staff on at least a quarter (25%) of our training events.

We will make sure that at least half (50%) of the people we support can speak up for themselves or have someone to speak up for them if they want.

We will start a group of people who will tell us how to make our information easier to understand.

We will make sure that everyone who works for Walsingham knows how to support people to speak up for themselves.

We will ask people what they want to be involved in and we will work out how to do this.

We will make sure that things that we have learnt on the Our Voice project happen in other services.

We will find out more about people’s rights and will tell everyone about these rights.

We will find out what people are doing in their communities. We will tell other people to give them ideas about what they can do in their community.
Involving the people who work for Walsingham
We will continue to value all the people who work for Walsingham
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will ask everyone who works for Walsingham about how we could make the pay review system better.

We will change the message board on the intranet so that it is easier for people to have their say.

We will make sure the Staff Consultative Group (SCG) works well.

We will use the Staff Consultative Group to ask people what they think about things.
We will make it clear who should make which decisions.

We will let the right people make decisions.

We will make our supervision process better so that we can support people in a better way.
Doing things better
We will find out the best way of doing things
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will ask people we support if they want to have a conference this year. If they would like to have a conference, we will find out what kind of conference they would like and how it could be even better than the last conference.

We will find out about different ways of supporting people with learning disabilities.
We will ask people we support if they want to have a say about important decisions at Walsingham.

We will make changes to how Walsingham is organised so that we provide a more local service to the people we support.

We will find out how to involve more people with learning disabilities in running Walsingham in our services, offices and at trustee level.
Checking what we do
We will make sure that we are providing the best possible service to all the people we support
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will work with people we support and other organisations who support people to produce checks for how good our services should be. We will try out these checks in 6 Walsingham services to see if they work.

We will find out how well Person
Centred Planning is working.
We have also made plans to:

make sure that the new services in Norfolk meet the needs of each person. We will also set up a local office there.
work with people we support and other people to plan different services for people in Bushey.
work with the people we support in Tamworth to change our services so that they better meet the needs of each person.
work with the people we support in Maryport to change our services so that they better meet the needs of each person.
work with the people we support in Sutton to change our services so that they better meet the needs of each person.
Expanding our services
We will increase the number of services we provide
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will work out the best way of making decisions about where we should look for new services.

We will plan where we will look for new services in the next five years. We will also plan what kind of services they will be.

We will find a way of working out how much a new service will cost. We will do this for all the different kinds of services we have.

We will work with other people to open a new service in Swansea to support 3 people.

We will continue to work with other people to try and open new services in Teesside.

We will continue to work with other people to try and open new services in Croydon.
Telling people about Walsingham
We will let people know about our work
From April 2005 to March 2006:

We will make sure that at least 8 people who work for Walsingham are trained in how to make our information easier to understand.

We will work with people we support to identify 25 important bits of information that need to be easier to understand. We will also make those bits of information easier to understand.
We will have an Annual Meeting in Cumbria in October 2005 to tell people what Walsingham has done in 2004-2005 and what is going to happen in 2005-2006.

We will find out what information each service needs to know about money. We will make sure each service has most (75%) of this information this year.

We will tell people which other organisations and people we are working with. We will learn to work with all these people in a better way.

We will increase the number of organisations and people we work with by a quarter (25%) to make things better for the people we support and the people who work for Walsingham.
