Social Services in Swansea... ...
Swansea Social Services provides services for people who need:
- Support to live independent lives
- Care - someone to look after them
- Protection from harm
Often we work in partnership with other organisations in the area to provide these services.
We also work with people who care for relatives or friends to support them in that caring role.
Getting support from Social Services
People receive support from Social Services after a professional assessment of their needs. This helps us to work out what kind of support would be most helpful. We use a set of rules called eligibility criteria to help us to work out who qualifies for help, and whose needs are most urgent. Unfortunately we are not able to provide help for everyone who asks for it.
Assessment and advice are free, but there is a charge for some of our services. Charges are usually based on how much you are able to pay.
Some people prefer to purchase a service that suits their individual needs better than having services provided. We may be able to make a Direct Payment to you so that you can do this.
