Tenant training guide and workbook
Tenants’ rights and responsibilities
“Living in your home” is a tenant training guide and tenant workbook aimed at increasing the number of ways in which tenants with a learning disability can be informed about their rights and responsibilities as tenants.
“Living in your home” aims to enable tenants with a learning disability to train other tenants on tenants’ rights and responsibilities and provides a workbook on tenants’ rights and responsibilities which can be used by tenants at home.

Feedback from participants in the "Living in your home" training.
“Tenants should be taught by other tenants. They take more notice as they feel relaxed and are not afraid to ask questions.”
“It teaches tenants that it is their house and that they have rights. It gives them confidence and self-esteem being a tenant, a sort of status!”
“It should make staff have more respect for tenants and for staff to remember that they are working in someone’s home.”

“All of this applies equally to trainers. Actually doing the training helps tenant trainers to gain confidence which would help them get involved in other things important in their lives.”
