Who is this leaflet for?

This leaflet is for you, if you are interested in working at home, by providing a home and support for a person who has a learning disability.

What is this leaflet about?

It is about the Adult Family Placement Scheme which recruits, trains and supports people who provide care within their own home for someone who has a learning disability. This can be on either a long or short term basis.

What do adult carers do?

Offer accommodation, meals, advice and support for an adult who has a learning disability. In other words, accept the person concerned as a member of your household.

This can be on a full-time basis, long term basis or for short term breaks, such as weekend or a week or two.

Who can be an adult family placement carer?

Anyone who has room in their home and their lives and is prepared to make the commitment. You will also have to be prepared to undergo an assessment process. You can be a person living on your own or someone with a family.

Do I need any experience?

No, although experience would be useful, we will provide training.

Is this for you?

We need people who have the time and patience to be able to care as well as have a commitment and willingness to develop their skills.

You will be paid for undertaking this worthwhile job.
